Associate Project Coordinator

Individual will manage capital projects for specific campuses from execution of a consultant agreement through project completion; or any segment thereof, as assigned. Associate Project Coordinators will also work closely with Program Management to assist in bringing a project to the design phase and keeping them appraised of the project progress and issues, particularly as they relate to project funding, throughout the life of the project. Frequent travel within NYS required.

Specific Duties and Functions: 

    Design Phase

  • Participate in a committee charged with the selection of the project A/E consultant and other consultants as may be necessary
  • Act as liaison between Campus and contracted consultants
  • Coordinate and manage meetings between campus personnel, the Fund and consultants
  • Review all document submissions for programmatic requirements
  • Review all submissions for compliance to SUCF's Bulletins and Directives
  • Review all submissions for technical adherence and constructability
  • Review for Building Code compliance and sign building permits
  • Coordinate the development of bid documents, the bid of the construction contract and the award of the construction contract
  • Maintain schedules, cash flows and other data in the Fund's project management system (eBuilder)
  • Approve consultant payments and maintain other necessary data in the Fund's Contract Management System
  • Assist in monitoring MWBE participation in light of approved goal plans
  • Maintain certification as a Code Enforcement Officer
  • Performs other duties as directed

    Construction Phase

  • Oversee and direct the project construction, assuring that projects are completed on time, within budget and according to specification
  • Interface with campus representatives
  • Coordinate and participate in on-site project meetings and quarterly progress meetings
  • Direct contractors and consultants that are contracted by the Fund
  • Perform periodic jobsite inspections
  • Maintain project records, including schedules, budgets, cash flows and other data in the Fund's project management system (eBuilder)
  • Approve payment applications and maintain other necessary data in the Fund's Contract Management System
  • Process change/field orders, ECA's and payment applications
  • Participate in resolution of construction issues
  • Review project work and applicable documents for code compliance and constructability
  • Assist in monitoring MWBE participation in light of approved goal plans
  • Perform close out tasks, participate in final inspection, issue certificate of occupancy/compliance
  • Assist Design Management as required
  • Performs other duties as directed

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering or related field; plus 10 years' experience in the building design and construction industry. Professional license may be substituted for up to 5 years' experience. Working knowledge of applicable codes and regulations, including the Building Codes of New York State. Effective interpersonal, communication and written skills. Ability to effectively operate in a team environment. Fundamental understanding of design, construction practices and construction management procedures. Ability to understand contract documents and computer applications.
