Plattsburgh - Hudson Hall Rehabilitation
The Hudson Hall Science Building has been designed by ENVISION Architects, PC to achieve LEED Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
The approximately 81,000 square foot existing Hudson Hall Phase II Science Building is currently being renovated and will link with the approximately 30,000 square foot Phase I Hudson Hall Annex addition completed in 2011. Hudson Hall will house various sciences including Earth & Environmental Science, Geology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and the Lake Champlain Research Institute.
The design will incorporate many sustainable features including natural day-lighting, sunscreens, optimized energy performance, recycled building materials, low VOC materials, Forest-Certified wood products, native vegetation, rain gardens, pervious pavement, bicycle racks, and a reflective white roof. Over 97% of construction debris was diverted from landfills. The building will use 25% less energy than would be permitted by NYS Energy Code.
The project is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2012.
