Asset Manager

Program Management

The State University Construction Fund (Fund), a New York State entity dedicated solely to the State University of New York's building and infrastructure assets at 32 campuses and 3 teaching hospitals, seeks an energetic and motivated individual to join our Capital Program Management team in Albany, NY as Asset Manager. This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Fund’s life cycle modeling software, AssetWorks, and utilizing life cycle modeling and other available data, such as space utilization, building characteristics and enrollment trends, to support capital planning efforts within Capital Program Management.

Specific Duties & Functions:

  • Report directly to the Assistant Director of Capital Program Management on all issues related to asset management, and work with Program Managers to facilitate capital planning efforts.
  • Manage the total life cycle modeling and asset management system and all related functions on a day-to-day basis, including project-based updates, annual audits, ad hoc corrections, and the annual updates to the regional cost factors and cost models.
  • Serve as liaison between all SUCF departments on all asset related processes and issues, including Program Management, Design, Construction, Finance and Information Services.
  • Develop, in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Capital Program Management, all necessary reporting and tracking of asset processes.
  • Serve as Chair of the Control Group and guide Group efforts as necessary.
  • Serve as Liaison between SUCF and SUNY Office of Capital Facilities on all asset related items such as Physical Space Inventory and other AssetWorks platforms (such as O&M module).
  • Serve as the organizational resource for all asset related items including education of staff involved in various stages of asset updates.
  • Assist Program Management and Finance in developing appropriate metrics for how to use asset information and life cycle modeling to support budget requests and justification for project starts.
  • Track the impact of investment on asset renewal over time and report as necessary.
  • Development of reporting to support organizational needs and goals and update/modification of same as organizational needs change over time.
  • Work with SUNY on current space utilization and enrollment data used in developing capital projects.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements:

A Bachelor of Science Degree with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a facilities asset-related discipline such as facilities management, design/construction management, planning, cost estimating or other data intensive fields.

At least five (5) years of successful experience in higher education administration including institutional research is strongly preferred. The Asset manager must possess knowledge of and experience with statistical techniques, data bases, report preparation, understanding of research, excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of professionals.
