The State University Construction Fund (SUCF) is seeking Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) from consultants to provide design and construction administration services for the Renovate University Hospital of Brooklyn for Infrastructure, Patient Beds, and Emergency Department project at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center. University Hospital of Brooklyn, constructed in 1966, is a 693,000 GSF building, with an eight-story wing and an attached three-story section, including two sub-basement levels, that house an array of inpatient and outpatient services. The Project will optimize patient service areas and address failing mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. The Project will replace the building's mechanical, plumbing, heating and cooling, and electrical distribution systems, inclusive of medical gas systems. The Project will also include modernizing and right-sizing inpatient bed spaces in the eight-story wing and renovate critical care units. The Project will also include renovating and modernizing nursing stations, core support areas and specialty units, and expand and modernize the hospital's emergency department. It is preferred that the selected Consultant will have expertise in Lean Methodology for Healthcare Design. The Consultant will also provide expertise in sustainable design to achieve New York State, SUNY and Construction Fund goals regarding energy efficiency and carbon neutrality.
