The State University Construction Fund (SUCF) is seeking Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) from consultants to provide design and construction administration services for the Construct New Interdisciplinary Research and AI & Society Building project at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York. The Project is for the design of a new academic building of approximately 85,800 GSF and five stories in height, along Lee Road north of the Engineering Precinct on the North Campus. This building will house laboratories, support, instructional and collaboration spaces for new academic programs in Artificial Intelligence, and related interdisciplinary research. Flexible lab space will include dry/computational labs and wet labs with fume hoods. Site and landscape work includes regrading, pavement, and simplified hardscaping & landscaping. A tabular space use program study for this new building was conducted recently by the Campus and will be made available to the selected Consultant. Design for construction to Net Zero Carbon standards and SUCF Directive 1B-2 https://sucf.suny.edu/resources/program-directives. Assume technical coordination with the North Campus Clean Energy Master Plan. Provide a ground source heat pump system for HVAC including approximately 150 ground wells and site restoration at the adjacent Jarvis B parking lot. Assume central building heat pumps feeding custom AHUs with energy recovery. Plan the wellfield and building heat pumps for future connection to a planned district GSHP system using the main campus chilled water loop. Electrical service to this building will be extended across campus in existing duct bank from the main substation at the southwest area of campus, to double-ended switchgear in the building. A service-oriented, budget-conscious Consultant team is sought to maximize value, minimize total cost of ownership, and expedite delivery of an attractive, functional, maintainable, and versatile facility. The project team will endeavor to maximize efficiency of layout and construction, while minimizing circulation space to allow the maximum amount of program space to be constructed within fixed budget and funding constraints.
